How it go fellow adventurers?!
My journey to becoming a captain is deeply tied to my family and a lifelong connection to the ocean. Born in Nassau in 80's, both sides of my family have strong ties to maritime life. On my mother’s side, my grandfather was a fishing charter captain (and her Great Aunt Gloria Patience - the famous Shark Lady of Exuma - who caught sharks with her bare hands and sailed in the Out Island Regatta with her all female crew), while my father and two generations before him served as military captains in the Royal Bahamas Defence Force. My father’s achievements especially, including being one of only two cadets selected to attend Dartmouth Naval College in England in the 1970s, have been a constant source of inspiration.
I spent my first 15 years in Nassau before heading to the Kansas, U.S. for school, an opportunity that broadened my horizons. After a few years working in the U.S., I felt the pull to return to the Bahamas. First Nassau, then Exuma — the island where my mother’s side of the family has deep roots.
In Exuma, I joined my family’s butcher shop, Prime Island Meats, run by my uncles and mom. It was there that I learned the value of hard work, customer connection, and the importance of community. After four years, life took a new turn when a local Captain asked me, “Have you ever thought about running a boat tour?”
That conversation set me on a new path. Under his guidance, I learned the art of seamanship and discovered a passion for sharing Exuma’s natural beauty with visitors. I’ve come to love showing off the island’s crystal-clear waters, secluded beaches, and rich history, creating experiences that go beyond just boat tours.
Today, I’m proud to continue my family’s legacy of leadership and hospitality. My goal is to give every guest an authentic Bahamian experience and memories that will stay with them for years to come.
